ANTIAGING SERIES (Day 2)

PREVENTION (Cleansing)

We discussed yesterday how important it is to take good care of your skin when you are young to prevent premature skin aging, and cleansing is really big part of that. Choosing a face wash or cleanser that you use daily is a really important decision! It determines how your skin will produce oil, whether your skin will break out, or if it will build up toxins in your body.

You've probably heard of how bad parabens are for our bodies and it is my opinion that you shouldn't use a cleanser with parabens! EVER! It has damaging effects on your hormones, and can disrupt your body causing toxin buildup..

But did you know there is an ingredient called Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate found in most cleansers that strips your skin of the nutrients and natural oil it needs to stay healthy? the Sulfate is what helps the cleanser become a foaming consistency, and if you have a cleanser that contains this ingredient I would toss it! It can be found in about 80% of foaming cleansers you find at the drugstore or online, and it should be avoided.

Your skin naturally knows how to regulate and heal itself thanks to the way God has designed it, and by over stripping it of the good bacteria and the oils it needs it cannot be healthy. Which is why foaming cleansers are a no for someone with dry skin, acne, oiliness, rosacea, or just about any skin condition.

Think of it as when you are taking an antibiotic and it kills all the bacteria in your stomach. The good and the bad bacteria are all destroyed leaving your stomach inflamed and angry. The same goes with your skin. Find a simple gel cleanser or cream cleanser and your skin will be improved and it will help you look younger longer! This is something I was never told until I did a ton of research on cleansers myself when I was dealing with acne. This is the base of all your skin care and it is the most important part.

Cleansing and Mineral Sunscreen are the 2 TOP most important things for people of all ages but especially in the teens and early 20s.

Tomorrow we will be moving on to MAINTENANCE! We will start talking about how to take care of your skin over the age of 30, and what you can do to start preventing wrinkles, and fine lines. Stay tuned
